Arqiva provides an end-to-end radio solution, handling the entire process from studio to listener. The final piece of the puzzle is Network Access.
Most people understandably take radio for granted. They turn the dial or tap a button and gain instant access to the content they love, wherever they are. Of course, we know as well as you do that lots of work goes into making that possible – from coding and contribution right through to distribution and transmission.
Amid all of this, the organised sharing of infrastructure is essential. It’s what we call Network Access (NA).
How does it work?
Broadcasting to listeners relies heavily on hill-top transmitters that cover the length and breadth of the country. Because of the difficulties and level of investment needed to build extensive nationwide broadcast transmission networks, the infrastructure needs to be shared in an effective and economic way – this is central to our radio business.
The transmitter sites used towards the end of the radio journey are invariably shared by a wide variety of services and customers.
Our masts, antennas and other systems are all shared or shareable by broadcasters and telecoms operators so that each has access to a facility that none would be able to afford in isolation. Our service includes full 24-hour monitoring and maintenance to ensure the utmost reliability.
Once the content has made it through this entire infrastructure and is transmitted via the final antenna, we can mark a job well done - our involvement in the process is complete and the listener is free to tune in and enjoy your content however they choose.
Nothing but the best
Everything about our Network Access service is regulated to ensure it all operates as it should. This goes to show just how significant our role is in the broadcast industry. What’s more, having worked with broadcasters and radio stations for more than 90 years, we’ve built up a huge wealth of experience and expertise – these are the reasons our customers trust us to deliver every time.
