Government has announced £1bn investment to make the UK 'a world leader in 5G'

On November 23, 2016, the Chancellor Philip Hammond delivered his first Autumn Statement.

Plans were announced for investment of £1bn for digital infrastructure to match the Chancellor’s “ambition for the UK to be a world leader in 5G.”

“Arqiva looks forward to working with the Government on a comprehensive plan for 5G in 2017, in partnership with the Future Communications Challenge Group, and the current work it is undertaking to develop this plan to put Britain at the forefront of the ‘internet of things’, enabling the development of innovations such as driverless cars and smart homes in which appliances, lighting and heating are controlled remotely using the internet.”
