Arqiva awarded Silver by Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

We are honoured to have received the Silver Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, which recognises UK employers who pledge their commitment to the armed forces

The award was presented by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mr Nigel Atkinson, Flag Officer Reserves & Naval Secretary, Rear Admiral Simon Williams and Director Army Reserves, Major General John Crackett at a ceremony held at HMS Victory in Portsmouth on Tuesday 05 July 2016.

The scheme is run by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to recognise UK employers who pledge their commitment to the armed forces community, and align their values to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. This accolade follows just seven months after we received the Bronze Award which is a significant achievement.

As a Silver Award holder, we have demonstrated that we are dedicated to promoting an armed forces-friendly position and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners. The aim is to ensure armed forces personnel and their families do not face disadvantages in their access to services and that they receive special consideration.

As an engineering company, Arqiva has a strong history of supporting employees who are reservists in the military, and in helping ex-service personnel transition into civilian work. We run taster days where servicemen and women are invited to operational sites to find out how the company works and what it does, and to hear about employment opportunities. We have also launched a Forces Fast Track scheme to enable service leavers with the appropriate skills to join our field teams.

“We are extremely proud to be awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award. We are passionate about ensuring that our employees and their families who are a part of the armed forces community, and defence personnel who are looking to enter civilian life, are fully supported here at Arqiva. Indeed, over the past year we have made great progress and I am particularly pleased to see how well a recent group of recruits from the armed forces have settled into Arqiva and what a positive impact they have each made”
