General information about the Plan and the Trustees

The Plan was established in 2005 when the Arqiva business became a separate entity from NTL (previously known as National Transcommunication Ltd). Following the acquisition of National Grid Wireless in 2008 and its Defined Benefit arrangement, the two Plans merged in 2011 into one – the Arqiva Defined Benefit Pension Plan.

The Plan is set up under a Trust. This means that the Plan's assets are ring-fenced and are kept entirely separate from Arqiva's assets. The Trustees are appointed by both members and the company and their key objective is to manage the Plan in the best interest of all the members.

The current Trustee board is made up of six Trustee Directors:

  • Tom O’Connor: Chair, Company Nominated
  • Dick Buckle: Member Nominated
  • Jack FitzSimons: Member Nominated
  • Peter Heslop: Company Nominated
  • Edward Thomas: Company Nominated
  • Alan Taylor: BECTU Nominated

We hold Trustee Board Meetings four times a year and our Investment Sub Committee also meet on a quarterly basis.

The Annual Engagement Policy Implementation Statement has been prepared by the Trustee of the Arqiva Defined Benefit Pension Plan. This sets out how, and the extent to which, the Plan’s policies on stewardship have been followed over the Plan year and describes the voting behaviour by, or on behalf of, the Trustee during the Plan year, stating any use of the services of a proxy voter.
