Spectrum Access

Spectators at a football match and the London Docklands

Arqiva has an indefinite license for spectrum access in the bands 412 to 414 MHz paired with 422 to 424 MHz.

Arqiva may use this spectrum for any purpose directly in its own business operations, or by acting as a band manager sub licensing spectrum to third parties.

This spectrum allows Arqiva to develop wireless infrastructure to meet the long term needs of the public sector, public transport, utility companies and many other commercial organisations in the UK by building and operating single site, local, regional or national networks.

Today's technologies enable us to use this spectrum to help organisations migrate from legacy analogue systems to modern digital networks such as TETRA which has become the industry standard.

This is a great opportunity for commercial users of PMR to migrate to state of the art digital radio systems which, due to the lack of available spectrum, have been denied to them until now. The UK can now catch up with mainland Europe which has been deploying digital PMR systems for many years.
