National Grid Wireless appoints Chief Technology Officer

National Grid Wireless has announced the appointment of Peter Mathers as its chief technology officer. Mathers brings to National Grid Wireless more than 33 years experience across a variety of roles and disciplines within the telecommunications and technology industries. Before joining National Grid Wireless he was vice president and chief operating officer at Energis (Poland) and has recently provided services and technology consultancy to the management teams of a number of European telecommunications companies and service providers.

During his career he has been involved in the development of a number of services and technologies, including internet technologies, data centre operations, wireless and fixed multi-service networks, IP next generation platforms and convergent architectures.

His role as chief technology officer will see him take responsibility for National Grid Wireless services and technology development, including the development of relationships with new and existing technology partners and ensuring that the development of the company's services and technology fit with the strategic objectives of the company. Mathers will also play an important role in the promotion of National Grid Wireless' services and technology strategy.

Telecommunications and broadcast technologies are increasingly overlapping and I believe that the company will play a key role in the design, deployment and operation of the converged networks and services of the future."
