Arqiva has provided radio communications support to the UK's Fire and Rescue services for many years. With each brigade operating its own local radio communications system Arqiva has provided support services to keep the radio systems full operational.
In the next few years the switch to a national digital radio network will present the Brigades with both opportunities and challenges. With our understanding of the way the Fire & Rescue services work and expertise in both analogue and digital radio, ensures Arqiva is in a unique position to help the Brigades make this transition.
Arqiva has already undertaken a national radio-reprogramming project, managed nationally and implemented across each local Brigade in England and Wales through our regional and local operational teams. In a three month period over 6000 radios were reprogrammed, meeting national requirements and the needs of local operational activities.
As the provider of the RNLI's radio communications systems around the country - from packaging crews to lifeboat stations - we are working jointly on improvements such as fishing vessel tracking.
For the RNLI, Maritime Coastguard Agency and others, we provide Arqiva facilities managers to work alongside the customers' staff, advising on, evaluating and implementing enhancements to support changing needs.
