Securing spectrum
To set up a mobile TV platform you need spectrum. Depending on the spectrum required, access to specific radio frequencies can be complex and its use heavily regulated and restricted by international agreements. Network design, build and operation
Arqiva has a 50-year track record in the design, build and operation of broadcasting networks, covering analogue and digital TV and radio platforms. Our customers include the biggest UK broadcasters and our networks reach most of the UK population.
We provide end-to-end service where we monitor and manage the broadcast platforms on our customer's behalf. Our range of skills include network and head-end design, site acquisition and planning, site design and construction, end-to-end system integration and network operations.
Our core infrastructure, which can be used to support new mobile TV networks, includes:
End-to-end network monitoring - We have our National Customer Service Centre located at Emley Moor, where we can remotely manage our networks and provide 24/7 customer support.
Head-end operation - Arqiva currently operates the SDN Digital TV multiplex from our Feltham Media Centre, where our staff are multiskilled in the operation of head-ends and playout services.
Distribution - We operate our own satellite teleports and we are able to access over 100 satellites, as well as having agreements in place with major telecoms providers for terrestrial distribution links.
Transmission - Arqiva owns/manages over 2,400 transmission sites across the UK, allowing networks to be designed to cover the vast majority of the UK population.
