- Arqiva is the official IBC 2008 show bag sponsor for sixth consecutive year
- Arqiva pledges to plant a tree for every official IBC show bag taken
- 20,000 trees will be planted as part of Durrell's tree corridor programme in the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil
Arqiva has pledged to plant a tree for every official show bag taken at the International Broadcasting Convention (Amsterdam, 12-16 September) - a major event in the world of multimedia content creation, management and delivery. This commitment will see Arqiva plant 20,000 trees as part of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust's tree corridor programme in Brazil's Atlantic rainforest. Arqiva has already planted 40,000 trees as part of the programme, and its IBC pledge will bring the company's total contribution to 60,000 trees.
"We are extremely grateful that Arqiva has once again pledged to make a significant contribution to this important programme," said Caron Glover, PR Manager at Durrell. "Having already planted 40,000 trees on their behalf, Arqiva is a key contributor to our tree corridor programme which links isolated areas of rainforest and helps sustain ecologically and culturally important species including the black lion tamarin and jaguar."
Nick Thompson, managing director of Arqiva's Satellite Media Solutions division, said: "Arqiva is delighted to continue contributing to the important work Durrell undertakes in the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil. By planting a tree on every visitor's behalf we are enabling everyone at IBC to join us in supporting this important conservation project. We hope that they will share the sense of satisfaction which comes from our involvement with environmental projects."
