Arqiva named 'Independent Operator of the Year’ by World Teleport Association

Arqiva has been named Independent Operator of the Year in the World Teleport Association's (WTA) 2007 Awards for Excellence. The award, presented at a ceremony in Washington last Tuesday, acknowledges the growth of Arqiva's teleport services across the broadcasting, retail, oil and gas and financial industries. Arqiva was the only UK teleport operator to be short listed for the award.

Arqiva signed over 230 new satellite contracts in 2006, with notable achievements including  the development of the UK's largest single digital advertising network for London Underground and the design and installation of the UK's first nationwide digital cinema satellite network for City Screens Ltd. Arqiva's broad range of customers also includes Sky Sports, Camelot and ING Wholesale Banking.

Accepting the award for Arqiva last Tuesday, Angus Blackwood, Customer Services Director of Arqiva Satellite Media Solutions said, "This award is a testament to the hard work of the entire company. It's been a great year for us, with fantastic contracts and new business opportunities, and we are delighted to be recognised on such an internationally renowned platform."

Arqiva operates four teleports in the UK, based in Chalfont, Bedford, Winchester and Morn Hill.
