• Ongoing popularity sees event move to a larger venue at the Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane

The Commercial Radio Companies Association (CRCA) has today announced the nominations for the 2004 Commercial Radio Awards, sponsored for the fifth year running by NTL's broadcast division. The awards, which will be held on 25 June, reward excellence in all aspects of commercial radio from production to presenting and will be hosted this year by Heart 106.2 Breakfast Show duo Jono and Harriet.

This year's awards again received a record number of entries, and the rising popularity of the ceremony itself has meant that the 2004 event is to be held at a larger venue within the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel on London's Park Lane.  Notable gongs include the NTL Commercial Radio Station of the Year; the NTL Commericial Radio Presenter of the year; and the NTL/Skillset Commercial Radio Presentation Newcomer of the Year, with the latter sure to be hotly contested by Rugby FM's Dale Collins, James O'Brien from LBC 97.3FM and XFM's Lauren Laverne.

Alison Winter, Research and Communications Manager at the CRCA, commented: "The growing success and recognition of these awards reflects the dynamism of digital radio in 2004.  This year promises to be bigger and better than ever and an excellent opportunity to recognise the depth of talent in this industry.  We are also very much looking forward to a brand new venue with brand new hosts and I'm sure that Jono and Harriet will be bringing their unique brand of humour to the proceedings."

NTL's head of broadcast radio, Paul Eaton, added: "With so much of our work being behind the scenes in transmission, we couldn't be more pleased to be supporting commercial radio talent and innovation at the Awards once again."

Full details of the specific nominations for each award are given below.  The winners of special awards - The Neil Robinson Memorial Award, The NTL/IRN Newslink Commercial Radio Special Award and The NTL Gold Award - will be announced along with all the other winners at the ceremony on 25 June.
