- NTL's Public Safety group leads police digital migration
- Terminals Managed Service tackles complex roll-out issues
- Tailored to suit requirements of individual forces
NTL's Public Safety group, the UK's largest independent provider of radio communications managed services, has achieved a 70% share of the Airwave terminals managed service market with 16 contracts awarded to NTL so far by police forces, totaling over £30 million. The major contracts won by NTL to date are: Thames Valley, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Dorset, Merseyside, Northumbria, Cheshire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.
NTL project-manages service implementation onto the Airwave network, ensuring that the migration from analogue to digital radio terminals and associated technologies is completed seamlessly. The agreements usually include ongoing managed services, relating to use of the Airwave network, for typically a five-year term - a task that embraces the configuration of ‘talk groups' and many other end-user operations. NTL's service provision is fully tailored to take into account the differing requirements of each force.
Richard Grant, strategy development manager in NTL's Public Safety group, says: "The migration to the Airwave digital network is major undertaking for any police force. NTL has the necessary background and track record of delivering reliable, fully-managed services to public safety and public sector organisations. Our in-depth experience of the legacy systems and leading position as a managed service provider will ensure a faultless migration to the new technology and associated services."
