Each proposed wireless city opportunity will have different priorities and a separate mixture of services and applications will need to be deployed. This is why Arqiva can be flexible in terms of its solutions - a standalone WiFi network or WiFi with CityCell and with its neutral position, Arqiva can generate the maximum number of sharer and service take up.
Wireless solutions are beginning to form a key layer in Local Authorities' business processes. They can help drive urban regeneration and facilitate social inclusion through the delivery of better and more cost-effective Council services as well as attracting businesses and visitors into city centres through the offer of ubiquitous broadband access.
The key potential users for these wireless networks as follows:

Arqiva wireless cities
Two scenarios exist depending on the requirements of the Local Authority:
Whatever scenario is looked at, Arqiva wireless cities are based upon strategic partnerships with Local Authorities, passenger transport executives and other key stakeholders.
Arqiva will also work with the Local Authority to identify core services and applications which could be migrated onto the wireless network and the likely level of cost savings and revenues that could be achieved per device or application connected. If an Arqiva wirless city network can be deployed in conjunction with a CityCell (cellular) network then deployment costs and/or running costs would reduce.
Arqiva uses existing street furniture and fibre networks to deliver its solutions so disruption to the local community is minimal. Once installed the network is virtually invisible to the untrained eye. Arqiva wireless cities will deliver new technologies and applications such as WiMAX when they become available, with little or no modification to the existing network.
