Purpose:
To be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the compression, multiplex and playout facilities, ensuring technical operations and standards are maintained by effective management of an operations team

Key Objectives:

• To ensure that all technical systems within the Arqiva's compression, multiplex and playout facility are maintained, operated and available for use
• To manage the organisation of rosters, appraisal and performance management of staff so as to meet operational and legislative requirements
• Ensure site HSE requirements are met
• To act as single point of contact for departmental issues, in particular those relating to changes in Playout/Transmission operations, providing support to the Playout & Satellite Sales manager and applications engineers
• To ensure customer reports are provided for monthly client meetings
• To ensure appropriate technical standards are maintained and to report any deviations from normal technical standards by the distribution of incident reports to clients
• To ensure technical compliance of all Arqiva-originated material to OfCom requirements
• To ensure appropriate levels of Technical & Operational support is available during periods when the Broadcast Operations Manager is unavailable
• To liaise with external organisations and where necessary organise operational support
• To cover where necessary for any operational role

Skills/Competencies

• Computing skills, including a good practical understanding of DOS/UNIX/WINDOWS/XWINDOWS operating systems
• Understanding and awareness of building facilities, such as air-con, fire and power systems
• Understanding and awareness of current Health & Safety legislation
• Understanding and awareness of current employment law legislation

Technical knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:

• Previous experience leading teams at a managerial level in Broadcast or business critical operations
• Previous experience of management reporting and SLA compliance
• Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic/Communication/Computer Science/Broadcast Engineering
• Detailed knowledge of regional, network, satellite operations both analogue and digital
