In June 2008, Alastair assumed responsibility for the Wireless Access division on an interim basis.
He had joined Arqiva's predecessor NTL Broadcast in September 2004, heading up the Public Safety group which provides communications support to the Emergency Services and other public sector organisations. Major customers include most Police, Fire and Ambulance services, HM Prisons, the Maritime Coastguard Agency and the RNLI.
Prior to rejoining NTL, Alastair spent two years as an executive at IBM, managing a strategic outsource for a major UK telco of IT systems for Customer Care and Billing, including applications development and ongoing support.
Between 1995 and 2001, Alastair played a number of roles across the NTL group - including Director of E-business, Managing Director South Central (NTL Home) and Director for IT Systems Convergence - and he served on the Group board as Director of Strategy and Director of Corporate Development.
Earlier still, Alastair worked for six years as a consultant in the economics practice of Coopers & Lybrand.
Having gained a 1st in Engineering and Economics from Oxford University, Alastair qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins and Sells. He is married with three children, and his interests include sailing and motor cars.
