Management Profile: Wendy McMillan

Group Strategy & Business Development Director

Wendy joined Arqiva in June 2011 as Group Strategy & Business Development Director, having held a variety of senior roles at BT since 2006. She is responsible for driving the overall strategic direction of Arqiva as well as leading business development, marketing and communications, innovation, regulatory public affairs and transformations. She brings to Arqiva a valuable combination of in-depth corporate experience and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Until 2010 she was Director of Strategy & Business Development in BT’s retail division where she had spent five years in a range of senior roles including general manager of the residential telephony business and director of customer service operations. She led the consumer side of BT’s fibre broadband development as well as the strategies for TV, mobile, gaming and smart metering.

Most recently, as an entrepreneur, she was the founder of the professional services website Who to ask? For which she received the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award for Europe 2010.

Her earlier career was spent in business finance development and consultancy roles at Sappi Ltd, Bain & Company and Smedvig Capital.

Wendy graduated from Oxford University where she received a Master of Engineering degree in Engineering, Economics & Management. She has an MBA from INSEAD where she was the Henry Ford II prize winner for graduating top of her year.
