Customers and Suppliers

corporate responsibility

At Arqiva we endeavour to have proactive relationships with our customers and suppliers to develop CSR activities. This means we can address common aims and maximise the benefit to society and the environment, while still meeting commercial objectives. Our customers are often very interested in what steps we’re taking to reduce our impact on the environment and increase our positive contribution to society.

When we’re tendering to suppliers for products and services we enquire as to the CSR practices of each supplier. We will then consider how appropriate these practices are and, together with all the other information received as part of the tender, make our decision on which supplier to choose. Two recent examples are particularly relevant:

When reviewing our catering contract we assessed environment policies alongside financial and other considerations. A new catering company was chosen from January 2010 for all catered sites which promotes the use of local produce, sustainable packaging and water conservation, and aims to minimise waste.

When we recently retendered our waste disposal contract we considered how best to maximise reuse and recycling where practicable and provide a streamlined system for employees to use. We reviewed carefully at the method of waste disposal for each of our sites and what employees will be able to do at work to increase the level of recycling.
