Summary:
The government’s recent Comprehensive Spending Review aims to cut police budgets by 17% over four years. At the same time, the government’s policing reforms aim to increase local presence and accountability and maximise the visibility of police officers on Britain’s streets. To comply with these seemingly conflicting mandates, forces need innovative ways to increase efficiency and drive down costs.

Summary:
This paper examines the coupling factors in two scenarios; a WSD consumer unit with an antenna at 1.5m above ground level (agl) into a DTT receiver with an antenna at 10m agl, and a WSD base-station with an antenna at 10m agl into a DTT receiver with an antenna at 10m agl.
The aim of the tests was to see whether the current reference geometries are consistent with measurements and to propose any changes to the way the reference geometries are applied where appropriate. The paper discusses the findings of practical tests carried out as part of the Cambridge White Spaces trial, and correlates the findings to a two-ray theoretical model.

Summary:
This report examines the coverage achieved by White Space base-stations at UHF with non-dominant antennas.
More specifically, where the antenna is not significantly above the local clutter caused by housing and other structures. The report compares drive test results for test transmissions in the UHF TV band with standard prediction models. It also establishes whether or not UKPM could be used to accurately predict the unwanted DTT signals at 1.5m agl and then predict the effects of unwanted remote DTT signals on White Space coverage.
