Senior Power Engineer

Purpose:
Detailed knowledge of site environmental and business critical M&E systems (with specific experience in UPS, standby generator systems and HV/LV infrastructure to achieve 100% operation of systems in case of individual equipment failure. Operating/implementing/designing maintenance management systems and documentation.
Key Objectives:
- To review Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems on selected sites and identify areas of operational risk in terms of business continuity and resilience
- Document all findings, recommend solutions and report in a pre-determined written format
- Construct business case(s) to secure finance to implement solutions in preparation for operating board approval
- Design each solution and fully document
- Provide technical details and put together a tender for each solution to ensure maximum value for money. In conjunction with other Arqiva departments, as necessary
- Project manage and supervise all aspects of the implementation programme, including commissioning and handover to customer
- To liaise closely with customers and senior management throughout all aspects of a project
- Ensure that all existing and new M&E assets are fully documented and that appropriate asset maintenance schedule and work instruction documentation is created and handed over
- To ensure appropriate technical standards are maintained and to report any deviations from normal technical standards
- To assess and review competencies of operational engineers in relation to electrical working and provide recommendations for further training as required
- To support senior management in any reasonable manner as and when requested
- To provide 24/7 point of escalation and technical support as required
- Promote an effective Safety, Health and Environment culture, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment within area of operation in accordance with current Health & Safety legislation and company procedures
- Maintain a secure working environment in line with the requirements of the Arqiva Security Policy in order to protect individuals, information and Arqiva assets
Skills/Competencies
- Proficient use of Word, Excel and Powerpoint, ie MS Office and email
- Ability to produce clear, concise and informative management / technical reports
- Good man-management and communication skills dealing with different levels of people both internal and external
- Understanding and awareness of current Health & Safety legislation and legislation that is due to come into force
Technical knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic/Building Services engineering
- Membership of an appropriate professional body, eg IET, CIBSE, IEE
- Experience in M&E/Networks/Broadcast Environment
