Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of MCG, Scott was responsible for Macquarie Bank's US asset financing business, based in New York.

Until August 1999, Scott was London-based and was responsible for Macquarie Bank's technology and telecommunications activities in Europe. During this period, he was responsible for implementing transactions for more than a dozen major communications companies including Cable & Wireless, France Telecom, Swisscom and Telekom Austria.

Before joining Macquarie Bank in 1995, Scott spent six years with Hambros Bank's Corporate Finance department in both the UK and Australia where he worked on mergers and acquisitions, primarily in the telecommunications sector.
